School Board
The School board is a governing body elected by town residents to represent district residents and manage public schools by balancing the interests and needs of students and taxpayers. This is accomplished by creating and adopting district policies, hiring the superintendent, overseeing board meetings and taking actions that both serve students and align with the priorities of their district.
Individuals that serve on school boards may be parents, former educators, or district residents passionate about public education. Together, the board has the power to make real change, both in the student experience and in the perception of public education. They guide the vision for the district, make decisions about taxpayer dollars and ultimately see through the priorities residents have for their district. These positions are elected and need to take out nomination papers prior to the Annual town meeting
